Overview of GMAT

GMAT exam which is also a computer based test, which examines a person's analytical writing skills, quantitative, verbal and reading skills. The full form of GMAT is Graduate Management Admission Test and it is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Age Criteria:

• The candidate must have completed the age of 18 years.

• There is no upper age limit of the candidate who is going to appear for GMAT Exam.a

Qualification Required: •Candidates who wish to enrol for MBA programme should possess a                  graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

 

REGISTRATION: - GMAT registration is  done throughout the year. Candidates can register for GMAT in both online and offline mode. 

STEPS TO REGISTER FOR GMAT

•Visit the official website of GMAC, mba.com

•Create an account on mba.com

•Go to 'Exams' tab and click on 'Register now' and you will be taken to Profile page

•Enter your personal details and create your GMAT profile on the page

•Check test date and test location

• Pay a fee of Rs. 17,000 approx.

 

EXAM DATES

GMAT has no fixed official GMAT date, you can choose any date according to your convenience and availability. In case you need to rewrite the GMAT exam, you can do some after 16 days. In a year, one can appear for the exam a maximum of 5 times.

 

QUESTION PAPER

The GMAT Exam comprises of three sections, viz. Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative Section and the Verbal Section Though the exam is divided into 3 parts, in each part, it is difficult to identify which category the question belongs to. The division of questions is done as follows:

 

Analytical Writing Assessment:

This is the first section from where the question paper begins. It constitutes 2 writing tests, one being Analysis of an Argument, and the other one being Analysis of an Issue. (30 minutes each) a total of 1 hour is given to complete both the essays.

 

Quantitative Section:

This is the second section in the question paper. It consists of 37 multiple choice questions. It covers the area which belongs to 2 types of questions: Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving. The time allotted to solve all of those is 75 minutes.

 

Verbal Section:

This section is the third and final section. Containing 41 multiple choice questions, this section encompasses the range of 3 types of questions: Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. The time allotted to solve all of those is 75 minutes.
